2024 PTA Scholarship questions

Prior to starting the submission process for the 2024 PTA Scholarships, please take the time to answer the required questions and save them to your computer. You will need to have these available to upload when submitting your application.

First District PTA

The First District PTA Commemorative Scholarship Fund was established to commemorate First District PTA volunteers who were long-time, dedicated child advocates and whose tireless efforts contributed greatly to the benefit of students, parents, and schools within the geographic area of First District PTA.

Commemorative scholarships are awarded in the amount of $750 per winner. Click the button below for more information.

BURBANK COUNCIL PTA QUESTIONS

Please use the questions below as a guideline to tell us about yourself in an essay of 500 words or less:

  1. Describe how PTA or PTSA has made a difference in your school experience and how you have been involved in PTA or PTSA through your years in school.
  2. What experiences or persons in Burbank schools have you found were important to your personal and/or academic development?
  3. Please discuss your involvement in any advocacy, service, or extracurricular activities (not already discussed in your First District statement.)

Rubric:

  • Involvement in PTA/PTSA and other Advocacy 0-20 points
  • Involvement in and/or Service to School 0-20 point
  • Involvement in and/or Service to Community 0-20 points
  • Other Experiences in School 0-15 points
  • GPA 1-5 points
  • Other Achievements/References 0-10 points
  • Significant/Special Circumstances 0-10 points

Burbank High School PTSA Questions

For each question, you are limited to 250 words.

  1. Now that you are exiting high school, what are your college goals and why?
  2. Are there any special circumstances that we need to be aware of? Examples of special circumstances may include financial hardship, working to help support your family, learning differences etc.  All responses are confidential.

Please answer either question 3 or 4

     3. Your transcript tells this committee something about your academic interests and abilities.  What are we missing?  What would you like us to know about who you are beyond your grades, as we review your scholarship application.

     4. Is there a particular moment, event or class at BHS that you feel has been particularly influential in your decision to continue your education beyond high school or in what you plan to study?  If so, please tell us about that.

John Burroughs High School PTSA Questions

1. Now that you are exiting high school, what are your continuing education goals and why? (For this question you are limited to 250 words.)

And in 500 words or less, please answer ONE of the two following questions.

1. Your transcript tells this committee something about your academic interests and abilities. What are we missing? What would you like us to know about who you are beyond your grades, as we review your scholarship application.

2. Four years ago, you were on the verge of finishing middle school. That must seem like a long time ago. No doubt a lot has happened in your four years of High School. Is there a particular moment, event, or class at JBHS that you feel has been particularly influential in your decision to continue your education beyond high school or in what you plan to study?
