Celebrating Milestones: Reflecting on the Journey and Looking Ahead
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”— Eleanor Roosevelt
As the final bells of the school year approach, it is a natural time for reflection. We look back at how far our students have come and look forward to the horizons they are about to cross. This month, the Burbank Council PTA wants to take a moment to celebrate the milestones—big and small—that our children have achieved.
Whether it is a kindergartener preparing for their first full day of elementary school, a 5th grader moving to a campus with new responsibilities, an 8th grader promoting to high school to begin their college and career pathways, or our seniors marching toward graduation—each step deserves to be acknowledged. Our students have worked hard, showing incredible resilience by taking this year one step at a time.
Growing Into Bigger Shoes: Kindergarten & 5th Grade
Our youngest learners and our "top of the school" 5th graders are both preparing for a significant "step up."
For our Kindergarteners, next year brings new milestones in reading, writing, math, and social skills. They are beginning to explore how the world works and how they fit into it. They need us to be their bravest cheerleaders, offering the love and communication that fuels their courage.
For our 5th graders, the transition to middle school is about identity. As they move to larger campuses, our role shifts toward trusting them with more responsibility. They are growing more independent, yet they still need those vital daily check-ins.

Strengthening Our Connection: Transformative Family Engagement
As we look to the next school year, the Burbank Council PTA is committed to evolving alongside our families. We are inspired by the National PTA model of "Transformative Family Engagement."
According to PTA.org, this is defined as:
"A shared effort of families, schools and community leaders to advance programs, practices and
policies that empower families to make their child’s potential a reality."
To ensure we are meeting the needs of every family, we are focusing on the Four "I"s of transformative engagement:
1. Inclusive
2. Individualized
3. Integrated
4. Impactful
By using this framework, we aim to move beyond simple academic check-ins and focus on "whole-child" development. We invite you to learn more at the PTA Center for Family Engagement.
Thank you for being a parent who communicates, loves, and cheers. We are so proud of our students, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.
Happy Summer, BUSD Families!
